DfE Strengthening Relationships Project – March 2013

11 March 2013

Leading UK relationships charity OnePlusOne have been commissioned by the Department for Education to lead on a high profile campaign that will encourage couples to see accessing relationship support as a normal thing to do to strengthen their relationship, rather than something sought at crisis point.

OnePlusOne will work collaboratively with expert partners who already have reach and credibility with key audiences. This includes Working Families who will be engaging employers and Contact a Family, DAD.info, Netmums, The Student Room and YouthNet who will create online spaces where people can talk about strengthening their relationships and get the tools to help themselves.

Communications agency Claremont will provide support to develop an integrated campaign targeted at new parents, young people and employers that engages the public directly and via intermediaries such as parenting organisations and housing associations.

Penny Mansfield, Director of OnePlusOne said:

“We are delighted to be working with the Department for Education and our expert partners to generate a public conversation about relationships.  We want people to know that relationships can be strengthened and talking about what makes them work can make home and work life better.”

Notes to editors

OnePlusOne is a UK charity that creates resources that strengthen relationships. We help couples and parents through a range of web-services, while our online learning equips frontline workers with the skills to offer them timely relationship support in a face to face setting.

Based on the latest research evidence, our work promotes early action and aims to equip people with the skills and knowledge to work on relationship issues before they become entrenched. The result is couples, parents and children who are happier, healthier, and more successful.
