  News from One Plus One

One Plus One was invited to run a Masterclass on 9th May with Fathers Direct for the Health Led Parenting Project (DoH/DfES) pilot site, as part of the Family Nurse Partnership. Entitled Supporting couple and father-child relationships, the masterclass provided evidence-based knowledge around the impact of parental relationships on children and the involvement of fathers. The day was structured to allow smaller group working around possible scenarios that those supporting young and new families may face. There was excellent feedback from the day.

Penny Mansfield, Director of One Plus One and Clare Negreira, Head of Practice Development and Training attended a seminar with Professor David Olds to discuss the implementation of the Nurse Family Partnership model in the UK.

Penny also recorded an interview for the University of the Air (Japan's equivalent of the Open University) which will be broadcast as part of their Family Studies programme.

This month YoungMinds Magazine published an article on the impact of parental conflict on children, The conflict zone, written by Penny and Fiona Hovsepian, Head of Knowledge Dissemination. Information about YoungMinds can be found here. Penny also provided comment for an article in The Times, written by Rosemary Bennett, Social Affairs Correspondent. The article, Couples that live apart . . . stay together, can be read here.

One Plus One has received funding for training a new cohort of trainers. The One Plus One Training Team held a residential Train the Trainer week for the Brief Encounters® course at the end of May. A dozen enthusiastic and skilled trainers gathered at Knuston Hall in Northamptonshire to be trained using the newly revamped 3-day Brief Encounters® course.
