At its annual general meeting on Tuesday 4 November 2025, OnePlusOne announced a few changes to its board of trustees.
Following Ruth Kennedy’s decision to stand down from the board after serving with OnePlusOne for 15 years – the last five as chair – we are pleased to announce that Nell Boase and Jonathan Slater have been elected as co-chairs.
Modelling the relational and collaborative ethos of the charity, Nell and Jonathon will be sharing leadership duties, bringing their diverse perspectives, skills and experiences to our dedicated team.
Speaking about the climate in which OnePlusOne is working, Jonathan, who joined our board of trustees in 2020, said: “These are challenging times for the charity sector as we witness government aid being reduced in Britain and globally. It’s even harder when we see these cuts having an impact on areas such as early intervention, which we know make a significant difference to people’s lives and can avoid the need for more intensive and costly processes further down the line.
“Relationships underpin our society. That’s why it’s vital to provide support when it’s needed. The need for OnePlusOne’s work has never been clearer, and I’m looking forward to leading this next chapter together.”
Co-chair Nell Boase, who has also been on OnePlusOne’s board of trustees for the past five years, added: “It’s a privilege to be part of OnePlusOne’s work, which is making a measurable difference and creating better outcomes for health, happiness and the next generation. There is still much to do as the team works to diversify its income, and modernise our offerings and digital presence.
“I’m excited to jointly lead our board of trustees and to work with the dedicated staff team to help us all to understand relationships better, discover how they can be strengthened and find new, innovative ways of sharing our knowledge widely throughout society.”
OnePlusOne would like to thank its outgoing chair, Ruth Kennedy, for her long tenure on the board of trustees, during which she has brought much-valued strategic leadership and direction. Our work supporting relationships is now into its sixth decade and as we move into this next phase of supporting people to grow their relational capability skills, we want to place on record our appreciation for Ruth’s unwavering commitment to our mission.
We have also said a fond farewell to three other board members – Emma Ries, Simon Eckstein and Pravin Somasundrum – who collectively have dedicated more than 30 years to supporting OnePlusOne. We are grateful for their contributions and wish them all well for the future.
At the AGM a new trustee, James Freeman, was formally elected to the board. James brings extensive experience in family law and will support the charity to build on its success with the Separating better app as well as forge great links with family law professionals supporting collaborative, child-centric separation solutions rooted in evidence and empathy.
James said: “I am delighted to be joining OnePlusOne’s board and look forward to helping out, starting with Separating better. It’s a good resource which could help a lot of families.”
Verity Glasgow, CEO of OnePlusOne, said: “It is a pleasure to be working alongside a supportive board of trustees who share OnePlusOne’s mission of relational capability for all and model this in their role of governance. Healthy relationships are at the heart of everything we do and I am looking forward to continuing to work collaboratively and in partnership with each of our trustees to steer OnePlusOne into an exciting new chapter.”
