We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new chair and members to our board of trustees.

Following the decision of existing chair of trustees, Erica De’ath, to retire after seven years, deputy chair Ruth Kennedy has taken over the role leading the charity’s board.

She will be supported by Katharine Landells as deputy chair and welcomes a further 3 new trustees who are joining the charity as it approaches its 50th anniversary.

Outgoing chair Erica De’ath OBE, who has been a trustee at OnePlusOne since 2009, said:

“I am immensely proud of what the Board and staff have achieved over the years I have been a part of OnePlusOne. Our valued charity continues to be responsive to the needs of couples, families, communities and workplaces. Innovation, a hallmark of OnePlusOne’s work, has put us in a strong position to respond and deliver effectively, particularly during the pandemic. The pace of change over the last 10 years has been challenging but we have worked tirelessly to restructure the organisation, invest in a new digital platform and services, developing a wide range of partnerships, and new ways of virtual working to embrace the fast-moving digitally driven world.”

“I would like to thank all past and present trustees for the support and expertise they have brought to OnePlusOne’s governance over the years, and equally to the past and present staff for their unstinting commitment, loyalty and support as well as their seemingly boundless creativity in the production and delivery of new and evolving services to strengthen all areas of relationships. We are ready to celebrate our 50th year in 2021.”

OnePlusOne’s new chair, Ruth Kennedy, is the Founder Director of ThePublicOffice and is passionate about the transformation of public services to lead to improved outcomes and efficiencies for people, while prioritising their experiences. She has previously worked with the Policy Unit at No10, the Department for Education and for the Guardian. Ruth joined OnePlusOne’s board of trustees in 2006.

Thanking Erica for her tireless service to OnePlusOne, Ruth said:

“I am delighted to step up as chair of OnePlusOne on the eve of its 50th birthday. These strange, separated Covid-19 times are reminding us of the importance of relational connectedness to our wellbeing. OnePlusOne continues to use relationship science expertise and innovation capability to create high impact products that help people understand and grow their relationship skills. Our ability to continue to break new ground will be hugely enhanced with the addition of Nell, Simon and Jonathan to the Board of Trustees.”
