Depression and low mood: a guide for partners

Who we worked with

Our partners were the Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Trust.

Short summary

When a person experiences depression and low mood, it can also affect the people closest to them. Given that treatment for depression often includes couples therapy, the NHS Trust recognised the value of a guide specifically for partners.  You can view the leaflet here.

What we achieved

The leaflet was designed to help people spot problems and understand their partner’s depression and low mood. It explains what they can do to assist and how to communicate well during difficult times. It helps people generally understand why a positive relationship is so important for good mental health in an easy to read format. The project was Highly Recommended by the British Medical Association in their patient awards in 2017.
